After Felix received the news about the parole decision, he printed messages on a piece of paper (he is allowed to bring paper and a pen into the visiting room):

To Attorney Reggie Garcia:
"Thank you for believing in me. For many years I have tried to tell them I did not do the crime but it’s hard with my disability and just when I thought I would give up, God finds a way to give me hope through you. For once in my life I feel like a person, a somebody. I’ve been kicked a lot but I get back up and keep going because of people like you. Thank you. Felix”

To the Media:
“If not for you in getting the truth out where would I be today? People say media always full of bad news but not today (upon hearing he is going into the Lifer’s Program and getting a 3 year review). Your persistence has revealed what I have been saying all along. The truth will be known and now it has. Thank you for believing in me. Felix”

To the Deaf Community:
“I just want to thank all of my Deaf brothers and sisters for your support and sticking with me through these hard times. If anyone knows how hard it is for the Deaf people to live in a hearing world it’s you. But now you know that your prayers were heard and society see’s us as people, thanks to God. We have a awesome God. Smile! Felix.”
(Felix drew a smiley face. In the deaf peoples’ emails they type ‘smile’ or ‘sad’ to express their feelings.)
